James Sullivan was appointed administrator of Veterans Home of California – Barstow by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. on Aug. 31, 2015. He previously served as the Home's skilled nursing administrator.
Prior to joining VHC-Barstow, Sullivan was the administrator of the 112-bed, Highland Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Mesquite, Nev. for seven years. He also served as program director and case manager for developmentally disabled residents during his 14-year tenure at Trinity Mission Wide Horizons Residential Care in Ogden, Utah.
Under his leadership, Highland Manor won top nursing home honors in 2008, 2009, 2013 and 2014 from Healthinsight, a national health care performance rating organization. The home also received the Perry Foundation Endeavors Gold Award in 2014.
A Utah native, Mr. Sullivan holds Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City and Weber State University in Ogden, Utah in political science and psychology respectively.
