CalTAP Core Curriculum
  • Provides Veterans with an understanding of the goals and learning objectives of the Cal-TAP program.
  • Provides Veterans with the opportunity for self-assessment; understand the challenges of service on the family; connect to support networks that assist in the transition from server member to civilian.
  • Provides Veterans with an overview of the health care benefits available through the Veterans's Health Administration (VHA).
  • Provides Veterans with an overview of the benefits available through the Veterans's Benefits Administration (VBA).
  • Provides Veterans with an overview of the benefits available through the California Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Provides Veterans information on their rights associated with assessing their benefits, in addition to the risks associated from unscrupulous entities that prey upon Veterans.
  • Provides Veterans with an overview of past policies and programs associated with less than honorable discharges and instructions on correcting military records.
  • Provides Veterans with the essentials of a financial education and the skills to confidently make financial decisions.

What is the Core Curriculum Pathway?

The California Transition Assistance Program (CalTAP) Core Curriculum Pathway is designed help Veterans and their families access available services, benefits, and other resources. Topics include understanding California Veterans Benefits, the VA healthcare system, filing a claim for service-connected disability, financial literacy, educational benefits, job training, home buying, and more. CalTAP offers online and in-person training to help you connect with your federal and state Veterans benefits and provide you with continued support as your needs change over time.
