Cemeteries and Burials

In 1865 President Abraham Lincoln promised that a grateful nation would "care for him who have shall have born the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan."  Among the ways our country shows its appreciation for these sacrifices is by providing burial and memorial benefits to current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces.  In this a sacred trust is fulfilled -- a nation honors in death those who honored their nation in life.

Veterans and their dependents may be eligible for a range of benefits from both the Federal and State governments, provided certain eligibility criteria are met.  For information about entitlements, contact your local County Veterans Service Office or call CalVet's Veterans Services Division at (877) 741-8532.  See also this page with information regarding Burial Benefits.
