Elizabeth Perez of Vista, Calif. joins CalVet as deputy secretary of minority veterans. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the appointment Jan. 8. She will lead CalVet's Minority and Underrepresented Veterans Division.
The Minority and Underrepresented Veterans Division ensures that all veterans have equal access to their earned benefits regardless of race, origin, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
Our objective is to increase awareness of benefits, and improve outcomes for the veterans we serve.
Our approach focuses on internal and external process improvement and on inter-and intra-agency cooperation.
We believe that dignity and an acceptable quality of life are owed to ALL Veterans.
The Minority and Underrepresented Veterans Division promotes the full and impactful use of State of California and Federal veterans benefits, programs, and services by minority and underrepresented veterans.
We advocate on behalf of minority and underrepresented Veterans by identifying gaps in services or barriers to access and we seek solutions. We also proudly lead and support initiatives that educate the public about the unique needs of minority and underrepresented veterans.
